July Update

I’m at home in New Orleans!!!!! Last night I slept in my own bed. I woke up and fed our beautiful baby boy, Dakota, his favorite fresh banana breakfast. I had a big Whole Foods pepperoni pizza for lunch and waisted the whole afternoon on the couch with Shera watching rented movies and eating pour-over cheddar popcorn. July was a blast with new friends from Crossings Camp at Jonathan Creek in Kentucky. I felt like I had been friends with worship leaders Matt and Joanna Black for years. Plus, if you’re a good looking guy whose last name is the same as a dishwashing detergent, I have the perfect girl to introduce you to.

After two weeks at Jonathan Creek I headed off to rural northern Alabama for camp with FBC Nashville. I’ve never seen a team of adult volunteers work harder or love their students more. We worshipped in a crazy-hot tent three times a day and I made some great new friends like Halston who introduced me to Girl skateboard decks. Becca, Alice and the rest of the 11th grade girls treated me like we were old friends. Joe, Jake, and Jonathan cracked me up everyday with their creative randomness. And of course, my cool niece Hannah was there to keep me in the loop on all the important traditions. It was a gift to get to worship with this remarkably talented group and to hear the preaching of Landon Dowden every day.

Next, I’m off to Music in the Rockies at Estes Park, CO and the Collegiate Week at Ridgecrest, NC. If you’ve stopped in long enough to read this far, why not head over to the contact page and send me a note. I’d love to hear an update from you.

Peace,
James
