Summer Week Three Update

Crossings Boat Race The third week of summer camp has come and gone. I’m at CROSSINGS AT THE CREEK on Kentucky Lake. It’s a beautiful campus with lots of fun stuff to do. The pic is the winners of the big “Crossing OF the Creek” boat race. The Whacky shaped Superman boat flew across the top of the water. God did some remarkable things during the week.

In response to my first week at Crossings, I am learning to speak without “F’s” and “TH’s.” At the end of the first full day of camp, some staffers were goofing off with Airsoft guns (misnomer!) and taking pot-shots at some of us from the back of the worship center. I got hit in the sleeve by a shot and turned around laughing with my mouth open just wide-enough to take a BB to the tooth. The score is now BB-1, Tooth-0. An emergency ROOT CANAL and some superglue later I’m back to smiling again. I’ve debated whether or not to post a picture of “Tealy the Toothless Wonder.” Maybe once the full dental process is over I’ll post before and after pics.

I leave for BOTSWANA in a few days. Remember to pray for me and the rest of the team July 2nd – 13th. It’s a long travel day and busy days of ministry once we get there. We’ll be doing AIDS EDUCATION in schools and with orphans as well as a weekend retreat for students from around Southern Africa. I’ll also do some concerts a couple of evenings sponsored by churches around Gaborone. I believe there is great power in specific prayer so PRAY, PRAY, PRAY.

    James!
Nice picture of the winning team of the boat race at J-Creek. They did really well despite the fact that I was counting down the seconds until they sank. But none-the-less, I’m sorry about your tooth, I wondered what had happened with that whole thing, what are the odds that you were gonna be laughing one second and then a bullet to the mouth the next. Funny how things work like that huh? But, I just have to say that this week at J-Creek, you were incredible, when I sat down to worship I really felt as if you were speaking right to me every night. I don’t think that any other pastor has done that for me so far. Hearing you speak about missions and how we should be leading examples for others to Christ helped me realize that I shouldn’t be just asking my youth minister to come and sit down with a friend of mine, I need to do it myself, just speak the language like you said. So I guess I just wanna say thanks, thanks for really speaking to me this past week, and thanks for showing me that all I really need to do is sit down and say ‘hey, this is what has been going on with me and my walk with Christ. How about you?’ So thanks again James. Can’t wait to hear you again!

oh Thiele, PLEASE post a picture?!?! We won’t laugh, I PROMISE!!! Well, seeing as you DID have me dress up as a somewhat convincing (alright, apparently it’s a VERY convincing) lunch lady in front of a total of 1500 people…I might laugh a little. But of course it would be laughing WITH you! I was sorry to hear about your incident and I do hope that all goes well with the repair. Ah, many and sorted are the dangers of the traveling preacher/singer/songwriter, right? ;)

    Dear James,
Wow i love that picture that you took of the winning team!! I attended the 5th week of summer camp and loved every one of your sermons. You really knew how to get my attention and really talk about alot of diffrent things that are going on in my life at the moment. You really helped me to see that before i came to camp i was just pushing god to the side and making stupid excuses, and that i needed to do the exact oppisit of that and just love him all the time. I know that you dont know me like many of the other people who send you comments probebly do, but i just wanted to let you know how much u meant to me that week and how much u really put things into perspective for me. My week was amazing and you were an amazing preacher!!
