Bio

In an industry where style typically triumphs over substance, performing songwriter James Tealy’s music is a refreshing exception to the rule. Tealy has a knack for writing about deeper things with the panache of a pop music craftsman—a rare combination that inevitably connects with listeners.
A graduate of Belmont University’s Music Business program, James has been a featured speaker/panelist for a variety of songwriting and music industry conferences, providing lectures, song critiques and contest judging and has begun teaching songwriting as an adjunct faculty member at Truett-McConnell College.
As a songwriter, James’ deep list of cuts includes songs recorded by Kari Jobe, Chris August, Matt Papa, Josh Wilson, Abandon, and more than 40 others. James’ songs have been featured in both film and TV including networks NBC, CBS, ABC Family, UPN and more. As an artist, James Tealy has released 5 projects in the last 6 years and maintains a busy travel schedule of concerts, worship leadership, and teaching. ChristianityToday.com called James “a truly creative talent with inventive alternative pop that’s intelligently crafted both musically and lyrically.” Christian Single magazine called James “a songwriter with substance and style…one of those singer/songwriters who skips right past the pretension and writes sturdy pop tunes that tug at your heart.” In the summer of 2009 Tealy signed with Centricity Music and continues writing for a diverse group of country, pop and gospel artists while maintaining a full calendar of events.
