One True God

I’ve posted the worktape of “One True God” on the myspace site per the request of several of you. Hope you’re able to use it in your worship gatherings.

The gutars are tuned down a whole step and I’m playing in D with the capo on the fourth fret. (Complex, I know, but that means the song is recorded here in the key of E). Find the chords by clicking on “lyrics” below the song title. Big Love!

Can I come to Your House and Play?

It’s a killer idea and I love the sound of it. House concerts. Why try and pack people into a coffehouse or church sanctuary and rock star it up when you could get 30 friends together in your living room and celebrate the songs and the God who inspires them.

Here’ s the set up: you host a house concert in your living room and invite your friends. Do it as a party, serve hors d’oeuvres and coffee…or don’t…and with no sound system in a corner of your living room I’ll play and sing and tell the stories of the songs. It’s intimate and authentic. No special effects, just songs.

Here’s the catch, after doing a month of these, how do I pay the bills and feed my family. Not sure yet. Maybe I can sell enough CD’s along the way to make it worth while (doubt it) or maybe hosts would pay to cover travel expenses and CD sales would help with income. As an equation, the sum is not very satisfying yet. But as an idea, it’s really rich!

Tell me how to make it work and I’ll come to your house and play!

Hurricane Katrina

Shera, Dakota and I left town Saturday morning and are safely out of the city. Keep praying for our friends who have not been able to get out.

It appears that the situation around our home may have worsened. Information is scarce and all electricity and communication in the city will be down for some time. We are safe and with family. The magnitutde of this disaster is still unknown. Thanks for the emails and notes of encouragement. Your continued prayer is appreciated.

For those of you trying to reach us, our cell phones can not receive calls but we are able to make calls. To contact Shera or I, please click on the words “Hurricane Katrina” above and post a message with your contact info and we will respond ASAP. We are online through out the day. Those of you wishing to contact Shera can do so at sherat@hotmail.com. Thank you for your continued prayers and encouraging words.

What’s In A Name?

The battle is over and the Thiele family lost. After input from many friends (and a few enemies) we’ve decided to change the spelling of my last name from Thiele to TEALY. As a child, my friends were so mortified of mispronouncing my name that would just call me “James Tee-Dot” as in James T. (I guess they were scared to go any further than the “T”). Or they would aim their darts instead at “James Tea Leaves.” Ahhh, Good times. So…you may pronounce my name as was always intended, but for the sake of the record it will now be spelled TEALY. New Site Launch

The April Showers have begun their deluge of the deep South. The new CD will be mastered tomorrow. The new jamesthiele.com is up today! Doy Cave has been hard at work for weeks redesigning this site and…the power just went out. Too much rain this morning I guess.

It’s a beautiful moment, actually. The house is dim and the air is still; still enough that I can hear Dakota breathing curled up on the cold tile floor next to my feet. I can hear water dripping from the kitchen sink (I should fix that some day). There’s a train on the tracks two blocks away and I think there are some kids playing in the rain puddles just down the street.

I hope your day gets quiet enough that you hear how blessed you are, how surrounded you are by life and hope. Here’s to the quiet. Thanks for visiting.

Peace,
James
